A good, fruity but rustic wine. Raw tannins frame flavors of blackberries, cherries and sandalwood, with a touch of bacon. Could conceivably develop bottle nuances, but it’s probably best opened soon.

Direct and fruity, with blackberry and blueberry flavors, wrapped into rugged tannins. Finishes a little sweet. Drink over the next few years.

Shows the gentle, silky mouthfeel you want in a nice Pinot, and also the variety’s array of cherries, cola, tea, cocoa and spice flavors. Feels soft and rustic in the mouth, though.

This is the least successful Judd’s Hill Cabernet in recent memory. The current ’04 bottling is lean, with cherry tea and mint flavors. A disappointment.
