Jurtschitsch Sonnhof 2001 Spiegel Reserve Gruner Veltliner Langenlois Grüner Veltliner (Kamptal)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $55
This is a sensational wine. Bright apple and cream aromas set the scene. It is rich and concentrated with a fat, oily texture and spicy flavors. Spice and ripe fruit make it seem almost like an Alsatian Gewürztraminer. It is certainly powerful, but it has a layer of fine, elegant acidity as well.  — R.V.  (11/1/2002)

Jurtschitsch Sonnhof 2004 Loiserberg Grüner Veltliner Trockenbeerenauslese (Kamptal)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $60
Almost nectar, this wine is supremely rich and concentrated, with toffee and honey flavors combining with apricots, orange peel and refreshing acidity. This is a great example of a TBA because of its richness, silky texture and balance.  — R.V.  (5/1/2007)

Jurtschitsch Sonnhof 2005 Zöbinger Heiligenstein Reserve Riesling (Kamptal)

  1. $83
Imagine sucking on pebbles, and you get some idea of the mineral character of this wine. It brings concentration from late harvest fruit, with ripeness and spice.  — R.V.  (10/1/2006)

Jurtschitsch Sonnhof 2001 Schenkenbichl Gruner Veltliner Langenlois Grüner Veltliner (Kamptal)

  1. $21
A crisp, fresh wine with light, fresh, open fruit. A touch of spice hints at the volcanic and granitic soil of the vineyard, while the fresh acidity highlights the fruit flavors and provides a crisp green aftertaste.  — R.V.  (11/1/2002)

Jurtschitsch Sonnhof 2006 Dechant Alte Reben Grüner Veltliner (Kamptal)

  1. $39
Power and rich, spicy creaminess are the hallmarks of this full-bodied wine. Tropical fruit flavors of mango and lychee are spiced up with nutmeg. There is a fresh tingle on the palate, intriguing and leaving a positive question over its ageworthiness— 2–4 years.  — R.V.  (12/31/2007)

Jurtschitsch Sonnhof 2006 Heiligenstein Alte Reben Riesling (Kamptal)

  1. $48
Smooth and rich, this is a big wine, initially almost Chardonnay-like in its creamy richness. But then the Riesling’s fresh perfumes and intense acidity kick in. White berries follow, while there are hints of white pear. Age this wine for 5 years.  — R.V.  (12/31/2007)

Jurtschitsch Sonnhof 2005 Zöbinger Heiligenstein Alte Reben Riesling (Kamptal)

  1. $59
The Alte Reben (old vines) owned by Jurtschitsch Sonnhof on Heiligenstein give an impressively concentrated, very mineral wine. Bitter Seville orange flavors give the acidity and the juicy character. It is still very young—give it at least three years.  — R.V.  (10/1/2006)
