Juslyn Vineyards 1999 Vineyard Select Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $75
Sleek, smooth and focused, powerful but elegant, this wine shows vivid blackberry, plum, anise, sage, chocolate and spice flavors all couched in classy oak. Tannins are firm and fine, providing structure and finesse. —J.M.  — J.M.  (2/1/2003)

Juslyn Vineyards 2002 Vineyard Select Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $80
Soft, ripe and dry, this wine, with a little Merlot and Cab Franc, is largely from Beckstoffer’s Tokalon Vineyard, with a dollop from the winery’s Spring Mountain estate. The wine is complex, young and comes together harmoniously, but needs some time to develop. Best from 2008, and should hold well for many years beyond.  — S.H.  (12/15/2006)

Juslyn Vineyards 2002 Estate Red Wine (Spring Mountain)

  1. $90
Juslyn’s top wine is just under the legal limit to call it Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s surprisingly soft and accessible for a Spring Mountain Cab, offering immediate pleasure with its juicy, upfront blackberry liqueur and cocoa flavors. It’s certainly a complex, balanced, elegant wine, and quite drinkable now. But it should hold and even improve for a decade.  — S.H.  (12/15/2006)

Juslyn Vineyards 2002 Perry's Blend Red (Napa Valley)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $60
This Cabernet-based blend has some pedigreed vineyard fruit in it, including Tokalon and Beckstoffer Georges III. It’s extremely soft and complex, but not showing all that well at this moment. Seems a bit closed down, muted. But it’s a very fine wine that probably needs time to open. Drink 2008–2010.  — S.H.  (12/15/2006)

Juslyn Vineyards 2000 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (Spring Mountain)

  1. $85
A big, dense, sturdy wine, rich in tannins and with the structure to age. It’s rather muted now, but buried deep is a solid core of blackberry, cassis, herb and olive flavors that turn up on the finish. Best after 2006.  — S.H.  (4/1/2004)

Juslyn Vineyards 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon (Spring Mountain)

  1. $85
Cedar, chocolate and cassis abound in this surprisingly smooth and creamy mountain Cabernet. Immediately approachable because of its supple texture, yet firms up on the finish, suggesting midterm (5–8 years) aging potential.  — W.E.  (5/1/2005)

Juslyn Vineyards 2000 Vineyard Select Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $75
A lighter style of Cab, with pretty black cherry, blackberry and herb flavors and softly sweet tannins. Notable for its balance and harmony, this elegant wine will support, not overwhelm, fine food.  — S.H.  (4/1/2004)
