Juvé y Camps 2004 Gran Brut Sparkling (Cava)
-
$45
Quite complex, leesy and creamy, with all the apple, peach, white pepper and exotic, delicate spice notes one could ask for. As Cava goes, this is expensive and elevated; it is made with 20% Chardonnay along with the other usual cava grapes, and the result is exemplary. Drink now or hold thru 2011.

Juvé y Camps 1995 Natural Reserva de la Familia Sparkling (Penedès)
-
$18
Spain’s leading “artisan-type” cava. A pretty nose of fresh-cut apples and pears, with a hint of smoke. Well-balanced, with a dry, refreshing, palate-cleansing austerity. Very lively in the mouth, with a spicy, toasty lime and orange-peel finish.
