Kaapzicht 2001 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon (Stellenbosch)
At first smell this seems to be maturing fast, with cedar and pencil shaving aromas. But in fact the tannins are still firm and dry, the ripe black fruit is all there, and it will certainly improve for a few years yet. But it is ready to drink now. A restrained, elegant wine overall. Not imported.

A well-integrated Shiraz, this wine is loaded with an array of complex aromas and flavors of juicy red plum, forest berries, charred cedar, gamey animal and sweet smoke. Dusty but structured tannins fill the mouth, and a touch of whole vanilla bean jazzes up the close.
