Klinker Brick Winery 2008 Farrah Syrah (Lodi)

  1. $20
From a producer to watch in underrated Lodi, this intense, black cherry, bacon-fat and white peppery Syrah has an almost peat-like, whisky aroma at first, very inviting, which then leads into more bacon and pepper that carries through on the palate, balanced by extremely smooth tannins and an unexpected elegance. A really cool Syrah to try on its own that’ll go…  — V.B.  (3/1/2011)

Klinker Brick Winery 2007 Farráh Syrah (Lodi)

  1. $18
There are delicious flavors in this ripe Syrah, and while it’s too soft for comfort, it sure is nice to drink. Offers waves of blackberries, mocha, black pepper and smoky sandalwood that finish thoroughly dry and complex in Asian spices.  — S.H.  (12/31/2009)

Klinker Brick Winery 2001 Old Vine Zinfandel (Lodi)

  1. $24
A full-bodied wine, with dark, plush plum, black cherry, tobacco, vanilla, chocolate, spice and anise flavors. Tannins are big, ripe and supple, while the finish is moderate in length. A fine effort from old vines and a relatively new winery.  — W.E.  (11/1/2003)

Klinker Brick Winery 2009 Old Vine Zinfandel (Lodi)

  1. $18
No mistaking the American oak that’s been wrapped around this wine, lending a fennel sweetness to its otherwise juicy red fruit. The 15.8% alcohol is also quite, shall we say, present.  — V.B.  (12/15/2011)

Klinker Brick Winery 2009 Farrah Syrah (Lodi)

  1. $20
A big-boy Syrah named for the producer’s daughter, this is a jammy, juicy, brown sugar and maple syrup kind of Syrah, with a great peppery nose and a lot of bacon fat flavors intermingled among the soft tannins.  — V.B.  (12/31/2011)

Klinker Brick Winery 2004 Old Vine Zinfandel (Lodi)

  1. $16
This is not really a dry wine, but it is a very nice one because the acids and tannins make it balanced. The flavors are of mashed ripe cherries and raspberries, sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered cocoa.  — S.H.  (12/15/2007)

Klinker Brick Winery 2009 Old Ghost Zinfandel (Lodi)

  1. $37
At 15.9% alcohol, aged 14 months in American oak, this Zin is for those who like a mouthful of hardcore meaty, gamy, oaky intensity. From old vines grown near the Mokelumne River.  — V.B.  (12/31/2011)

Aromas and flavors of fennel, black cherries, raspberries and chocolate mark this soft, easy Zin. Nice with a juicy cheeseburger slathered with ketchup.  — S.H.  (12/31/2009)
