Koenig Vineyards 2006 Estate Vineyard Merlot (Snake River Valley)

  1. $20
Soft berry and pepper spice aromas give this elegant red a mellow start. On the palate, savory meat and cherry flavors are touched with an herbal lift. Smooth and delicate in nature, and a pretty sipping wine.  — S.K.  (4/1/2009)

Koenig Vineyards 2005 Three Vineyard Cuvée Syrah (Snake River Valley)

  1. $20
A successful trio of tobacco, red raspberry fruit and spice gives this Idaho Syrah character. Full-bodied tannins and balanced acids mean it will age well, but pop it open now with some grilled lamb and enjoy a good wine from an emerging, and consistently improving, wine region.  — S.K.  (7/1/2008)

Koenig Vineyards 2004 Cuvée Amelia Reserve Syrah (Idaho)

  1. $50
There’s something more to be found in this than the typical pepper and red berry flavors for which the variety is known. There’s depth and complexity to the deep spice and coffee interlaced on the palate, and the finish is lingering and smooth. A very nice Syrah with great food-pairing potential.  — S.K.  (10/1/2007)

Koenig Vineyards 2005 Bitner Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Snake River Valley)

  1. $20
Elegant aromas of red currant, cherry and pepper start this solid Cab from Idaho. On the palate, oak and fruit integration gives the wine a smooth, rich style. Unfolding and full of personality. Pair with steaks, burgers.  — M.G.  (4/1/2009)

Koenig Vineyards 2005 Cuvée Amelia Reserve Syrah (Snake River Valley)

  1. $50
This Syrah leads with a very pretty nose—floral but spicy, and redolent of blueberry. On the palate, it offers dry, peppery red berry flavors, but a wave of charry smoke tends to overpower. Pair it with an equally smoky dish—mesquite, grilled meat—and it might temper the bite. Overall though, a good wine, from a region that is producing interesting Syrahs.  — S.K.  (7/1/2008)

Koenig Vineyards 2004 Cuvée Alden Private Reserve Red Meritage (Snake River Valley)

  1. $50
An elegant nose of deep spice and fruit leads on this Meritage from the Snake River Valley of Idaho—an emerging region to watch for interesting reds. The wine offers sturdy red fruit, spice and structure, and seems made for hearty fare like grilled steaks or, if you feel like splurging, a kobe burger.  — S.K.  (10/1/2008)

Koenig Vineyards 2005 Sunny Slope Cuvée Riesling (Idaho)

Honeyed, floral aromas and pretty, delicate flavors make this an interesting and affordable choice for the summer. Think apricot, citrus and a touch of spice. Acidity is good and the finish lovely.  — S.K.  (7/1/2007)
