A little reduced on the nose, so it opens with licorice and some gassy, rubbery qualities. Time sends it in a good direction; what’s left is big, meaty fruit flavors with mild tannins and good overall balance. Full and chewy right now, so drink sooner rather than later. Best now through spring 2009.

Woody and baked up front, its cooked, rubbery aromas setting set up a surprisingly sheer and sharp palate that’s short on substance and balance. Tastes generic, with linear acidity resulting in little cushion or mouthfeel.
