A touch chunky and oily on the nose, but for the most part it smacks of tropical fruit and correct varietal aromas. The palate is plump but healthy, with mellow green melon and lemon-lime flavors. Standard but fine; drink now.

Jammy and oaky, with raisin, graham cracker and blackberry thrown in for good measure. The palate teeters on syrupy but holds the line to show sweet, ripe berry and plum flavors. Mild tannins and some coffee on the healthy finish. Imported by Ecosur Group, LLC.

Honey, flowers and a bit of mineral on the solid nose. This is full and ripe, with pretty melon, anise and other Southeast Asian flavors. A bit more full and extracted than most, but it’s neither flabby nor heavy. Imported by Ecosur Group, LLC.

Big and dark, with smoked meat and bacon aromas sitting side by side with damp, soupy notes. Has its strong points, such as the dark plum and bacon flavors and the wideness of the finish. Strikes against include extra hard tannins that result in a scouring, lasting feel. Imported by Ecosur Group, LLC.

Full plum and raspberry aromas are not overpowering, but they are big and set the stage for plum, coffee and pepper flavor components. Displays a bit of heat and bitterness late on the finish, but for the most part this wine is varietally correct and tastes not unlike a sun-drenched Côtes-du-Rhône. Imported by Ecosur Group, LLC.

Fairly sweet on the nose, with plum and a touch of spice. Things get more rugged in the mouth, where cherry and blackberry flavors carry a medicinal edge. A big Syrah but also a clumsy, heavy-handed one. Proceed with caution.

Quite syrupy and stewy, with chunky fruit flavors and a lot of wayward heft. On the plus side there’s coffee and bitter chocolate, but overall there’s just not much elegance or lightness.

A bit heavy and bitter, but otherwise this is pretty decent. Not much can be said about the mild nose: it’s typical but not that expressive. The palate, meanwhile, has a lot of weight and peach-pit bitterness, while the finish is a bit sluggish.
