La Spinona 2007 Bricco Faset Nebbiolo (Barbaresco)
Online Exclusive
Smoke, toast, mesquite and barbecue tones emerge from the nose of this nicely concentrated Barbaresco from La Spinona. There’s not much fruit here as the wine’s aromas are mostly occupied by the secondary perfumes acquired through wood aging. Expect those to evolve and become more ethereal with time.

La Spinona 2008 Bricco Faset Nebbiolo (Barbaresco)
Online Exclusive
This is a good portrait of Nebbiolo save for a pungent touch of powder or solvent that distracts from the overall harmony of fruit. Those strong elements are not outside the great boundaries of this important native Italian grape and are more than forgiven in this case.

La Spinona 1999 Vigna Qualin Dolcetto (Dolcetto d'Alba)
Price
$15
This is an easygoing lighter-style Dolcetto. Cherry and mocha flavors predominate throughout, and the finish is long and dry. Would go well with pizza.

La Spinona 1998 Vigneto Qualin Dolcetto (Dolcetto d'Alba)
Price
$15
Herbal aromas in the form of lavender. Some tartness and an underripe quality to the palate. Basically an adequate wine with the sharpness to lushness ratio too much in favor of sharpness.
