Lanson 1989 Noble Cuvée Brut Sparkling (Champagne)

  1. $120
This tête de cuvée offers everything a Champagne lover seeks: rich, yeasty bread notes on the bouquet; ripe pear, citrus and vanilla flavors; a luxurious mouthfeel; dainty bubbles—the works. While it’s mature, it also seems to have lots of life still in it, meaning it could get better. But why wait? It’s in such a state of grace now.  — M.S.  (12/15/2001)

Lanson NV Extra Age Brut Sparkling (Champagne)

Creamy, textured wine, with a lively mousse and a balance of fine toasty age and fresh citrus fruits. It shows a dry character, firm and mineral, very textured with the weight to make it a food Champagne.  — R.V.  (12/1/2011)

Lanson NV Extra Age Brut Rosé Sparkling (Champagne)

This rosé is the partner of the brut nonvintage launched in 2009. It is dry, with intense acidity balanced by an elegant, textured red fruit character. Aged for five years, it shows a fine combination of fruit and maturity.  — R.V.  (12/1/2011)

Lanson 1998 Noble Cuvée Brut Sparkling (Champagne)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $125
An intense, full-bodied style, which balances the Pinots and Chardonnay well. It is ripe, with toasty undercurrents, balanced by a delicious citrus and grapefruit crispness and a fine, long lingering aftertaste. There is a light, but discernible sweetness to finish, although it is certainly Brut.  — R.V.  (2/1/2007)

Part of the new Noble Cuvée range from Lanson (which also includes a Pinot Noir/Chardonnay blend and a rosé. This is feather light, floating with its bubbles and zesty, citrus fruit flavors, and a dry, crisp aftertaste. Very much an aperitif Champagne.  — R.V.  (2/1/2007)

Lanson NV Extra Age Brut Sparkling (Champagne)

A new blend launched in 2009, with the aim of recreating a 19th century style of Champagne without malolactic fermentation, in order to give freshness and the ability to age in bottle. This first bottling already has a fine toasty character, but balanced with the crispest of apples, citrus and a mineral texture. Certainly worth keeping a few bottles, but delicious…  — R.V.  (12/1/2009)

The palest of rosés inside the pinkest of bottles. It is deliciously dry, packed with tight acidity, only hinting at red fruits, a wine that shows crispness, freshness, but also a good weight of ripe citrus and red currant fruits.  — R.V.  (12/1/2009)

Already, this is a mature wine, and it's delicious. The aromas of toasted brioches and dry fruits confirm this. So does the palate, a layered toasty, nutty wine, with mature acidity and vanilla. Drink now, it's ready.  — R.V.  (2/1/2007)
