Latitude 46° N 2004 Syrah (Columbia Valley (WA))

  1. $28
A concentrated, young, satiny wine that mixes in 8% percent Grenache. Inky purple, it already is beginning to hint at developing layers of meat, smoke, tar and licorice, although the primary fruit flavors, sappy and concentrated, dominate. It’s very young; give it plenty of air time.  — P.G.  (6/1/2006)

Latitude 46° N 2005 The Power and the Glory Syrah (Columbia Valley (WA))

  1. $28
Blended with 5% Grenache and 6% Mourvèdre. Raspberry and cherry and tart red fruits jump out; and the tannins remain young, hard and abrasive. This definitely needs some more bottle age; but it already shows fine fruit flavors that persist right through the young tannins.  — P.G.  (3/1/2007)

Latitude 46° N 2003 The Power and the Glory Syrah (Columbia Valley (WA))

  1. $28
Split decision on this wine, with one reviewer liking it for its vibrant blackberry fruit and briary, peppery spice and mouthwatering finish, while our other two reviewers downgraded it for being green.  — W.E.  (9/1/2005)

Latitude 46° N 2004 Clifton Cuvee Red Wine Syrah (Columbia Valley (WA))

  1. $18
At 76% Syrah, this red blend (the balance is Grenache) just squeaked past our tasting censors. It’s a bit soft and jammy, also high in alcohol, but boasts loads of ripe cherry-berry fruit backed by a hint of chocolate.  — W.E.  (9/1/2005)
