Llopart 2005 Rosé Brut Reserva Sparkling (Cava)

  1. $20
Light in color with aromas of finely scented bath soap, strawberry, fresh cream and steel. The palate is a touch sweeter than you might expect, and that’s because this is 60% Monastrell (Mourvèdre) along with Garnacha and Pinot Noir. Still, it’s an elegant wine with punch bowl flavors.  — M.S.  (12/15/2008)

Llopart 2002 Rosé Brut Reserva Sparkling (Cava)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $25
Alluring bubby, regardless of origin or composition. The bouquet is dry, clean and spicy, with crushed raspberry. Full in the mouth, with a perfect texture; the peach and nectarine flavors are delicious. Finishes a bit racy and citrusy, with pink grapefruit and passion fruit. Outstanding rosado cava. Imported by Jorge Ordoñez Selections.  — M.S.  (6/1/2006)

Llopart 2006 Rosé Brut Reserva Sparkling (Cava)

  1. $21
Exotic in color and aromas; the nose is sublime and redolent of raspberry and plum fruit. It’s a cheerful, fresh style of rosado, more refined and elegant than bulky and overly fruity. Clean and offering divine black cherry essence.  — M.S.  (11/1/2009)

Llopart 2003 Leopardi Brut Nature Gran Reserva Sparkling (Cava)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $29
Despite being a no-dosage Cava, Leopardi has a complex, toasty, rich nose along with delicate, elegant pear-influenced fruit. There’s size, pointed bitterness, pepper and length. Voluminous but balanced. Serious by cava standards.  — M.S.  (11/1/2009)

Llopart 2002 Brut Nature Sparkling (Cava)

  1. $28
Quite light to look at and seemingly like chewing gum upon first sniff. But give it time and inspection and you’ll get melon, lime and crystal-clear acids and body. There’s no fat to this Cava nor any heavy toast or cream. It’s lean and wiry, and the fruit is front and center.  — M.S.  (12/15/2008)

Llopart 2004 Leopardi Brut Nature Sparkling (Cava)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $29
Light, elegant and hinting at lemon-lime on the bouquet. The mouth is mellow, complete and not the least bit aggressive, with peach and melon flavors that turn drier and mildly pithy on the finish. Well-executed and elegant cava, but simple in its totality because it’s brut nature.  — M.S.  (2/1/2011)

Llopart 2008 Rosé Brut Reserva Sparkling (Cava)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $22
Bright and aggressive for Llopart, with lively orange and apricot aromas. Frothy to the point of being bubbly, with ripe, bouncy pink grapefruit and other citrus flavors. Stays racy and citrusy on the finish. All fruit; not complex.  — M.S.  (2/1/2012)

Llopart 2003 Rosé Brut Reserva Sparkling (Cava)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $18
Heat from the 2003 vintage aside, this is one sweet, forward, dark-colored Cava. The nose is all about cheeky, sweet fruit, while the palate offers more berry sweetness along with vanilla. Normally this bottling is more restrained and striated, but 2003 was a warm year. May be better with desserts than appetizers, given the ripeness.  — M.S.  (8/1/2007)
