Lullaby 2007 Lalayee Red (Walla Walla Valley (WA))

  1. $35
Lalayee, says winemaker Virginie Bourgue, means lullaby in Persian. This 51/49 Cab/Merlot blend is textural and pretty, a palate-coating potpourri of cranberry, pomegranate, blue plum and cassis fruit. Bourgue has layered in new barrel nuances of coffee and caramel latté, with a whiff of smoke.  — P.G.  (9/1/2010)

  1. $28
Subtle, with well-modulated fruit and a soft creamy quality from barrel aging and time on the lees, this hints at a wide panoply of fruits—apricot, peach, even papaya, but places them in a refined, silky setting that rolls out across the palate for literally minutes.  — P.G.  (12/1/2009)

Lullaby 2008 Lalayee Red Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon (Walla Walla Valley)

  1. $45
This 50-50 Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon blend is soft upon entry, with delicate, pretty fruit flavors of raspberry and wild plum. Gentle accents hint at buttery caramel and sweet cracker through a well-balanced finish. A light touch is evident throughout.  — P.G.  (5/1/2012)

Lullaby 2008 Rosé (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $16
Lullaby’s rosé is given an extra year of bottle age, in the French style (winemaker Virginia Bourgue is French-born and educated). This pale copper, Grenache-based effort is deceptively rich. Light in color, big in flavor, bone dry, with bracing minerality, its pale cherry fruit flavors persist through a clean, refreshing finish.  — P.G.  (11/1/2010)

Lullaby 2007 Rosé (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $16
Bottled in a lovely 500 ml bottle, with a label of cut paper with butterflies, this was barrel fermented in neutral oak. It’s a beautiful color, a coppery salmon, much like rosé de Provence (where winemaker Virginie Bourgue is from). It’s dry and fruity, but more complex than most newly released rosés, with light berry fruits, a lovely texture, and a finish that…  — P.G.  (12/1/2009)
