Lynch 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $60
A tightly wound, good cellar candidate. Balanced in rich tannins and acids, with solid cassis and cherry fruit and a sweet veneer of oak, it’s splendid tonight with a steak, but should really hit its stride in a few years.  — S.H.  (7/1/2005)

Lynch 2002 Canis Major Zinfandel (Dry Creek Valley)

  1. $24
Quite fragrant, with complex aromas of chocolate, black cherry, raspberry, herbs and spice. They extend along the palate as well. The wine is fairly full bodied, but serves up good acidity for a balanced quaff. On the finish, it’s framed in toasty oak and pretty vanilla, finishing long and lush. From winemaker Brenda Lynch, also of Mutt Lynch.  — J.M.  (9/1/2004)

Lynch 2002 Canis Major, Unti Vineyard Syrah (Dry Creek Valley)

  1. $25
Beautifully balanced, with an intensely flavored core of black cherry, black currant, coffee, spice, herb and hints of chocolate. Tannins are supple, yet firm, and frame the wine with elegance. Toasty and lush on the finish. Good price; great wine.  — J.M.  (9/1/2004)

Lynch 2002 Lynch Knoll Vineyard Syrah (Spring Mountain)

  1. $65
This Syrah aims high. It’s dry, rich and full-bodied, with rich tannins and oak, and is fruity enough for the core of cassis to develop for several years. On the other hand, it has a sharp finish that may crack this wine up before the tannins fall out.  — S.H.  (7/1/2005)
