Lynmar 2007 Five Sisters Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley)

  1. $100
This important Pinot Noir is expensive, but it is absolutely worth a search. It’s not a single-vineyard wine, but a blend of various blocks from the cooler southern part of the valley. Oak, to the tune of 70% new, is very strong in char and vanilla, but way stronger is the fruit itself, which is exemplary and stunning. Raspberries, cherries and strawberries just…  — S.H.  (9/1/2010)

Lynmar 2007 Hawk Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley)

  1. $70
An extraordinarily lush, dramatic Pinot Noir. Dense and full-bodied, it shows flashy flavors of black and red berries, currants, cola, pomegranates and dusty spices, enhanced with the most perfect application of smoky oak and wrapped into a rich, silky texture. The balance is exquisite, a tension of acidity and tannins. Beautiful now, and should develop bottle…  — S.H.  (12/31/2009)

Lynmar 2009 Quail Hill Vineyard Summit Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley)

  1. $70
An enormously rich Pinot Nor, stunningly delicious. Hard to imagine a California Pinot offering more opulent notes at such a young age. Dazzles with raspberry and cherry pie filling, vanilla, toast and scads of spices, and feels so soft, so silky, yet finishes so dry. Really a stunner. Should glidepath through the next six years, gradually growing mushroomy.  — S.H.  (8/1/2011)

Lynmar 2009 Quail Hill Vineyard Old Vines Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley)

  1. $120
A fabulous, lush Pinot Noir, dry and silky. Crisp coastal acidity brightens the complex flavors of raspberries, cherries and spices, with sweet oak influences, and there’s a rich tang of minerals from the earth. It’s ridiculously delicious now, but with a tug of tannins, it should develop over the next six years, at least.  — S.H.  (8/1/2011)

Lynmar 2009 Terra de Promissio Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)

  1. $70
This single-vineyard Pinot Noir shows fine coastal acidity and dryness, and a transparency of taste that comes from the terroir. It’s very delicious, with jammy raspberry and cherry fruit flavors enriched with oaky vanillins and smoky, buttery caramel. Gorgeous and compelling, combining power and nuance, it’s a wine to drink now and through 2015, at least.  — S.H.  (8/1/2011)

Lynmar 2007 Quail Hill Vineyard Bliss Block Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley)

  1. $60
A massive Pinot Noir that showcases the magnificence of the vintage, as well as this proven vineyard. Shows youthful, tannin-inspired flavors of sour black and red cherries, plums, red currants, cola, anise and sandalwood, finished with pepper, cinnamon and other dusty spices. Despite the power, the wine feels light and silky in the palate. Irresistible. Terrific…  — S.H.  (12/31/2009)

Lynmar 2009 Quail Hill Vineyard Bliss Block Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley)

  1. $70
Extraordinarily rich and ripe, showing sweet raspberry and cherry fruit flavors, enhanced with the vanilla and buttered toast of oak barrels. Brilliant acidity and wonderfully soft tannins make this Pinot instantly drinkable, yet it should age over the next 6–8 years.  — S.H.  (8/1/2011)

Brilliant acidity, dryness and tangy minerality mark this Chardonnay. The grapes come from the estate vineyard in the cool, southern part of the valley. Shows tangy, steel-tinged flavors of pineapples, oranges and honeysuckle, with an extraordinary richness that finishes dry.  — S.H.  (8/1/2011)
