Mak 2003 Chardonnay (Adelaide Hills)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $16
A solid wine with both presence and delicacy. It’s not overpowering, but it has good length and staying power. Firm, clear peach and olive oil flavors complement similar aromas. There’s also a nice spiciness on the palate that fades into the finish. Very tasty. 2,000 cases produced.  — W.E.  (7/1/2004)

Mak 2001 Chardonnay (Adelaide Hills)

This wine is packed with bright tropical fruit and citrus aromas and flavors, yet stays balanced and spritely through the long, citrusy finish. It’s easy to like and easy to drink.  — J.C.  (7/1/2002)

Mak 2002 Shiraz (Clare Valley)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $18
An interesting Shiraz, this one’s plummy aromas and flavors have one foot in the prune/raisin camp. Still, there are pretty flavors of Christmas spice, bread flour, tea and tobacco here, too; the latter two leave a somewhat sour taste on the finish. Imported by Old Bridge Cellars.  — D.T.  (10/1/2006)

Mak 2000 Cabernet, Shiraz, Merlot Red (Coonawarra)

  1. $18
Black fruit and some road tar comprise the potent, dark nose. Sweet black-cherry flavors follow, with a long sultry finish closing the program. The feel is soft and dense, and the fruit quality is good but not stunning.  — M.S.  (12/15/2002)
