Mano A Mano 2008 Venta la Ossa Syrah (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $20
A smoky, dark and deep Syrah from the La Mancha region of central Spain. It’s a warm-weather wine with rich, ripe, saturated fruit and sweet accents of coconut, chocolate and vanilla to go with core blackberry flavors. Lush and oaky, with a creamy thickness to the finish.  — M.S.  (12/15/2011)

Mano A Mano 2008 Venta la Ossa Tempranillo (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla)

  1. $20
Meaty and full Tempranillo with olive, lemon peel and smoky aromas that accent robust berry fruit scents. The palate is saturated and jammy, with a baked softness that balances firm tannic grip. Flavors of blackberry come with a roasted bitterness before dark chocolate rises up on the finish.  — M.S.  (10/1/2011)

Mano A Mano 2004 Tempranillo (La Mancha)

  1. $10
Here’s a good Tempranillo from a prime growing zone within the sprawling La Mancha region. The wine displays serious fruit quality as the black cherry and dark plum flavors kick it out. On the palate, the balance is right where you want it. For a joven that sees only six months in oak, it has the right amount of chocolaty framing. Not an overcropped mass-market…  — M.S.  (11/15/2005)

Mano A Mano 2008 Tempranillo (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $11
Cheesy, rooty aromas of root beer, cola, leather and vanilla lead to a fairly round palate of roasted berry flavors. Feels a little on the flat side, with rooty flavors picking up the finish. Decent but more leafy and dried out than expected.  — M.S.  (7/1/2011)

Mano A Mano 2008 Manon Tempranillo (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla)

  1. $8
A big, jammy youngster with earth and rubber on the nose. Firm, bullish and tannic but also lively, dark-fruited and touched up with bacon. Finishes with heat and bitterness. Meaty and rugged yet still pretty good.  — M.S.  (4/1/2011)

Mano A Mano 2005 Tempranillo (La Mancha)

  1. $10
Dense in color, this pours on the sugar beet and wild field aromas to the point that the nose isn’t very appealing. Equally challenged is the sour, monotone palate. Peppy, but not much to offer.  — M.S.  (4/1/2007)

Mano A Mano 2004 Venta la Ossa Tempranillo (La Mancha)

Strange how sour and unappealing this tastes when it smells pretty decent. It’s not a well-balanced specimen; the acidity is up there and the mouthfeel is stark.  — M.S.  (8/1/2007)
