Maquis 2005 Lien Red (Colchagua Valley)
-
$20
This blend of Syrah, Carmenère, Cab Franc and Petit Verdot comes in at a higher level than many. Dark chocolate, almond candy and black fruit work the nose, while the palate is sizable and full of plum and dark berry flavors. Both the oak and acidity are up there, so expect power and a few loose edges as it seeks its sweet spot.

$18
Brightly tinted to purple, with black cherry, graphite and surity to the nose. The palate pushes lively black cherry, cassis, plum and licorice, while the finish is lush and persistent. With no Cab or Merlot in the mix, this tasty five-grape blend leans on Syrah for its foundation. Imported by Global Vineyard Importers.

Maquis 2007 Lien Red (Colchagua Valley)

$20
Red fruit aromas are common and clean, with ample oak and spice on the side. The palate is flush, juicy and quite tannic, with berry, cola, mocha and toasty oak flavors along with a tough, grippy feel. A five-grape blend that’s forceful, fully oaked and tannic.
