Marchese Carlo Guerrieri Gonzaga 2006 Terre di San Leonardo Red (Vigneti delle Dolomiti)
Price
$22
With crisp mountain fruit, this Bordeaux blend from northern Italy offers linear and elegant aromas of small berry, blackberry, spice and crushed black pepper. There’s both firmness and freshness that would pair with succulent red meat.

Marchese Carlo Guerrieri Gonzaga 1999 San Leonardo Red (Vallagarina)
Price
$75
This Bordeaux-style blend offers plump aromas touched up by wet earth and herbaceousness. Flavors of dried cherry and jerky sport drive and intensity, but in the end notes of beets and tobacco bring overall ripeness into question.

Marchese Carlo Guerrieri Gonzaga 1998 Merlot di San Leonardo - Estate Bottled (Trento)
Price
$18
A bit old for a current release, which is why it seems scattered and a few grades shy of whole. The nose has some strawberry, but it’s funky and takes too long to unfold. The finish is dry and starchy, although it’s not offensive nor does it bring with it any blatant off flavors.
