Mark West 1997 Chardonnay (Russian River Valley)
Price
$14
A sleek, tight wine showing its underlying structure of good acidity and bracing tannins. Fruit is toned down, uncomplicated by oak. On the herbal, austere side, but has plenty of charm and character.

Mark West 1999 Gewürztraminer (Sonoma County)
Best Buy
Price
$12
An exquisite wine that combines delicacy and harmony with enormously fruity-spicy flavors that fill the mouth. The aromas suggest candied ginger, tropical fruits, vanilla and wildflowers. The flavors are effusively fruity and on the dry side, with refreshingly crisp acidity. Try it with Asian-Pacific fusion foods.

Mark West 2009 Appellation Series Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley)
Price
$25
This is a soft, simple wine. Although it has an attractive silkiness and savory raspberry, cola and cinnamon flavors, it’s a little one-dimensional, so drink up.

Mark West 1999 Pinot Noir (Sonoma County)
Price
$18
Light, tasty and simple, it offers up pretty aromas of red raspberries, smoke and vanilla. In the mouth it’s fruity and soft. There’s good extracted fruit and a generous dusting of oak. It can’t quite achieve complexity, but it’s a nice wine that’s thoroughly enjoyable.

Mark West 2009 Pinot Noir (Santa Lucia Highlands)

Price
$15
A sweet, jammy Pinot Noir, with raspberry, cherry, licorice and sandalwood flavors, brightened by crisp acidity. Good as an introductory Pinot to explore the variety at a fair price.

Mark West 2004 Pinot Noir (Central Coast)
Price
$9
Lots to like in this simple, varietally proper Pinot. It’s light bodied and silky, with a very soft texture and pretty flavors of cola, cherries, blackberries and toast. Finishes dry and spicy.

Mark West 2010 Chardonnay (Central Coast)
Online Exclusive
Price
$10
Made in the sweet, simple way, with pineapple and orange jam fruit, buttered popcorn and vanilla flavors. However, the price isn’t bad, and it will appeal to a lot of your friends at parties for its California richness.

Mark West 2009 Pinot Noir (California)

Price

Pinot Noir in name only, a dry, silky wine whose berry flavors are definitely on the thin side. It’s somewhat sweet.
