Marqués de Olivara 2006 M.O. de Olivara Vendimia Seleccionada Tinta de Toro (Toro)

  • Best Buy
  1. $14
You won’t find many Best Buy Toro wines, so this is a good rare bird. Blackberry, raisin and crusty molasses aromas come with a floral note, while the palate is dark, toasty and loaded up with black fruit and fudge flavors. Finishes healthy and with good feel and wild berry flavors.  — M.S.  (10/1/2011)

Marqués de Olivara 2009 Viñas de Olivara Tinta de Toro (Toro)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $9
Lively, candied and medicinal, with grassy aromas along with mild animal notes. The palate is young, grabby, forceful but solid, while the flavors are bright, bold, snappy and suggest red plum and black cherry. A basic young wine that’s decent if you’re not too discerning.  — M.S.  (12/15/2010)

Marqués de Olivara 2007 Crianza Tinta de Toro (Toro)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $11
Roasted smelling, with dried spice aromas. Choppy and tannic in the mouth, with rubbery, savory flavors of raspberry and dark plum. Short and hard on the finish, with tomato notes. Has some good points but it’s miserly on the fruit and comes across as tannic.  — M.S.  (7/1/2011)

Marqués de Olivara 2005 Reserva Tinta de Toro (Toro)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $14
Balsamic and hard, with a briney, stemmy set of chemical-tinged black fruit aromas. The palate hits with force and noise; it’s hard, tannic and unforgiving. The flavors of baked berry are rich, but the finish is grating and blazes with tannic burn.  — M.S.  (10/1/2010)
