Martin Pasler 2001 Trockenbeerenauslese Muskat Ottonel (Burgenland)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $30
Muskat Ottonel seems to have an affinity for being made into unctuous late-harvest dessert wines that retain enough acidity to offset their enormous sweetness. This one has dried apricot, orange marmalade and ripe melon flavors all balanced by mouthwatering acids on the long finish.  — J.C.  (12/15/2004)

Martin Pasler 2010 Reserve Chardonnay (Leithaberg)

A young, still green-fruited wine, all citrus and apples. It has weight, though, giving it a rich potential. The flavors show concentration, a mineral edge, almost steely in character. Enjoy it now for its crispness or in a year for greater roundness.  — R.V.  (12/15/2011)

Martin Pasler 2009 Reserve Blaufränkisch (Leithaberg)

Ripe, perfumed wine, its sweet red berry fruits underpinned by firm, dry tannins. The wine is rich, full, the acidity cutting through jammy red plum flavors. Age for 2–3 years, but also drinkable now.  — R.V.  (12/15/2011)

Martin Pasler 2001 Trockenbeerenauslese C Chardonnay (Burgenland)

  1. $35
A big step up from Pasler’s BA, this Chardonnay-based TBA boasts rich pear and dried apricot aromas that carry a hint of volatility, followed by a wine that tastes like pear nectar, with nuances of apricot and tangerine. Mouthwatering acidity keeps the finish lively.  — J.C.  (12/15/2004)

Martin Pasler 2001 Beerenauslese Welschriesling (Burgenland)

  1. $15
Dark gold color. Seems slightly volatile on the nose, with shoe polish aromas that turn acetic on the palate. It has a rich, viscous mouthfeel and decent flavors of caramelized fruit if you can get past the flaws.  — J.C.  (12/15/2004)
