Masi Tupungato 2007 Corbec Corvina-Malbec Red (Tupungato)

  • Online Exclusive
A blend of Corvina brought over from Italy and Argentine Malbec done in the Venetian ripasso style. The nose is a bit soupy and earthy as it seeks fresh fruit, while the palate runs rich and syrupy, with roasted berry and black plum flavors. Soft on the finish, with a quick fade. Best if you like meaty, sweet reds.  — M.S.  (11/1/2010)

Masi Tupungato 2008 Paso Doble Malbec-Corvina Red (Tupungato)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $17
Deep and sultry aromas of black fruit, mineral and toast mix with licorice gum drop and leather to form a good bouquet. The palate, however, runs more sharp than expected, with high acidity propelling lean, narrow pie-cherry flavors. A bit hollow but fresh and pure. Starts better than it ends. 70% Malbec and 30% Corvina.  — M.S.  (11/1/2010)

Masi Tupungato 2009 Passo Doble Malbec-Corvina Red (Uco Valley)

  1. $17
Roasted at first, with smoked ham and bacon aromas along with clove and other hard spice notes. The palate is oaky, with chewy tannins and a thick texture; flavors of blackberry are meaty and rich, while clove and more dry spices reappear on the finish. A different breed for Mendoza.  — M.S.  (8/1/2011)

Masi Tupungato 2009 Passo Blanco Pinot Grigio-Torrontes White (Tupungato)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $15
Hay and straw aromas are burnt, sweaty and ultimately sour. Citric on the palate, with jumbled grapefruit and pickled flavors. Bitter and pithy on the finish, too. A blend that needs much work.  — M.S.  (11/1/2010)
