Mirassou 1998 Mission Vineyard Chardonnay (Monterey County)

  1. $24
Considerably riper and more exotic than the San Vicente Vineyard Chard from Mirassou, with tropical-fruit aromas veering into fig and banana. Tastes rich and fruity, with citrus and ripe peach; has an acid bite. Oaky, with a long, lush finish.  — S.H.  (2/1/2000)

Mirassou 1997 Showcase Selection Pinot Noir (Monterey County)

  1. $30
A complex, rosy, black-cherry, smoky, and briary nose opens to a dense, chewy palate of deep red fruits. Somewhat tight right now, but with the tannins and acidity to balance the massive fruit. This will benefit from 2 to 4 years in the cellar.  — W.E.  (10/1/1999)

Mirassou 2007 Pinot Grigio

  1. $12
A lovely wine to have at picnics, on the beach, backyard barbecues, even at the table with everything from fried calamari and goat cheese to roast pork and fresh fruit. Completely dry and racy in acids, it shows intense, nervy flavors of citrus fruits and zest, with spicy notes of medjool dates.  — S.H.  (11/15/2008)

Mirassou 1997 Harvest Reserve Dedication Bot Petite Sirah (Monterey County)

  1. $18
This is a dark, immature red wine of sizable proportions, honest and unique, that will age for a long time. Tarry, blackberry fruit, with light touches of black pepper and vanilla. Don’t go near it for a decade; better still to bequeath it to your children.  — W.E.  (11/1/1999)

Mirassou 1999 Showcase Selection Chardonnay (Monterey County)

  1. $30
The rich bouquet shows buttery, creamy vanilla notes with hints of tarragon and sweet hay. Golden apple and pear wears sweet butterscotch on the medium-weight, soft palate. Shows a bit of alcoholic heat as well as good intensity and impressive weight, but a one taster found it too controlled by vanillin oak qualities at the expense of the fruit.  — W.E.  (7/1/2001)

Mirassou 1999 Showcase Selection Pinot Noir (Monterey County)

  1. $30
Tasters uniformly liked this bright berry and black cherry wine, the top of the line from this venerable family winery. Dark earthy notes, vanilla oak and herb accents nicely complement the crisp and lively fruit. Drink now through 2006.  — W.E.  (10/1/2002)

Opening with a nose of butterscotch, apple and pear aromas, this wine offers a mouth full of clean and zesty pineapple fruit on a medium-weight frame. Attractive use of oak marks the buttery finish.  — W.E.  (6/1/2000)

Mirassou 1998 San Vicente Vineyard Chardonnay (Monterey County)

  1. $24
Attractively built, with apple and melon aromas and spice accents that open into a mouthful of positive apple-pear and spice flavors. The mouthfeel is soft, the finish is fairly long and attractive. Hangs together very nicely.  — W.E.  (6/1/2000)
