Morgan has been a real pioneer in the unoaked Chardonnay movement, and when the wine scores, it scores big. Consider this a run-scoring triple. It’s totally dry, very acidic (officially, 7.13 g/L, for the statistically-minded) and austere, with a hard edge of minerals. What fruit there is suggests tart green apples and white nectarines. Believe me, you won’t miss…

The pure, natural flavors of ripe Chardonnay grapes star in this wine, which is a combination of Santa Lucia Highlands and Arroyo Seco fruit. It’s potent in pineapple, tangerine, peach, papaya and pear flavors that burst in the mouth with the most brilliant acidity. Defines the unoaked Chardonnay style at its best.

This Chardonnay is so delicious in citrus, tropical fruit, peach and vanilla bean flavors, brightened with brisk acidity, that you hardly miss the absence of oak.

This is what good, cool-climate Chardonnay tastes like without oak barrel influence. It’s a dry, crisply acidic and strongly flavored wine, bursting with ripe pineapples, peaches, green apples and vanilla.
