Mountain View 2004 Chardonnay (Monterey)

Showcases the bright acidity and pure tropical fruit flavors of cool-climate Monterey Chards, with a delicious kiwi and lime taste. This is a super price for a wine of this caliber.

Mountain View 2007 Pinot Noir (Central Coast)

Decent, everyday Pinot, with good varietal character, if not especially complex. The wine is dry, silky and crisp, with modest cherry and cola flavors.

Mountain View 2002 Clockspring Vineyard Zinfandel (Amador County)
Price
$10
Not without its flaws, this is nonetheless a decent wine for things like barbecue, when all you need is something clean, dry and fruity, at a good price. It’s a fairly tannic wine, with coffee and cherry flavors and zesty Zinfandel spice.

Mountain View 2006 Pinot Noir (Carneros)
Price
$14
Lots of upfront fruit in this crisp, silky wine. It’s one-dimensional, but for the price, a pretty good value in a Pinot Noir from a top appellation. The cherry, cola and currant flavors are complexed with smoky oak.

Mountain View 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon (Lake County)
Price
$9
Not bad for nine bucks. It’s dry and full-bodied, with good blackberry and cocoa flavors, but tannic. Needs food. Nice with burgers and tacos.

Mountain View 1997 Pinot Noir (California)
Price
$8
A tangy, spicy Pinot at a bargain price. Sweet and fruity; almost candied raspberry fruit. Fairly high acidity to balance the sweet fruit. Decent quaff at the price.

$8
Ripe and sweet in apricot, pear, coconut macaroon, vanilla and Asian spice flavors, this Chard benefits from crisp acidity. It’s not really dry, but has many interesting tastes.
