Mueller 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon (Diamond Mountain)

Better known for Russian River Pinot and Chardonnay, Mueller turns to Diamond Mountain for Cabernet, with excellent results. The wine is full-bodied and dry and feels just great in the mouth, with smooth, rich tannins supporting complex flavors of blackberries, cassis, mocha and sweet, smoky oak. Beautiful now, and should develop over the next eight years.

Aromatically inviting, with clean, focused cherry, pomegranate, cola and oak scents leading to a full-bodied palate. A little heavy and hot, but otherwise a very nice Pinot that can hold for a few years.

Very ripe in fruit, with good acidity and lots of smoky oak. Made in the jammy style of California Chardonnay, it has sweet flavors of pineapples, papayas and buttered toast. Drink now as a cocktail, or try with a rich shellfish risotto.

Mueller 2006 Block Eleven Syrah (Russian River Valley)

At more than four years of age, this Syrah is very dry. It’s also tannic, with a hard, astringent bite to the blackberries. Somewhat rustic, it seems unlikely to develop in the bottle.
