A complete modern Rioja with cola, cassis and smoky aromas. Excellent mouthfeel and toasty black fruit and licorice flavors work well together, and the finish is refined, warm and peppery. Not an overly lush wine but it is generous and loaded with a bit of everything good: body, tannin, acidity, flavor and complexity. Drink now through 2014.

Sweet, ripe and full, which is pretty much the Muga style. One whiff tells you a lot: there’s nice plum and cherry, with depth. The finish lingers for a while, delivering vanilla and ample wood. This is so easy to like, and equally easy to drink.

This unfiltered blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, and 10% Mazuelo and Graciano has a lot of refinement. Aromas of dried cherries, spice and leather open to a mouth full of cherry, plum and herb flavors. Cutting a trim, handsome profile with fine fruit-to-acid balance, it finishes long and dry, with interesting mineral accents.
