Pure and forward, with minerally aromas of citrus, grapefruit and wet stone. For basic Verdejo, this is head and shoulders above most; it bursts with fresh orange, grapefruit, green apple and peach, and the finish is pure and long. So tasty and super easy to like; a highly recommended go-to value white.  — M.S.  (12/15/2010)

Naia 2007 Naiades Verdejo (Rueda)

  1. $29
Fleshy and rich, with a clear reflection of barrel fermentation on the nose, palate and finish. This is plump Verdejo with match stick and toasty vanilla on the bouquet. It’s full, round and toasted in the mouth, with spiced apple and vanilla flavors. Oaky and mature; drink this Spanish ode to Burgundy now.  — M.S.  (4/1/2011)

Naia 2004 Naiades Verdejo (Rueda)

  1. $28
Big and yellow, which is evidence of the oak aging on this plump, modern Verdejo that’s made in small quantity and will appeal to those who like things such as Sémillon and Chenin Blanc. The body is full, there’s fruit, weight and grip, and the ripeness versus minerality is just right. Drink now with cheese or fish. 300 cases produced.  — M.S.  (8/1/2007)

Naia 2004 Las Brisas White (Rueda)

Amazingly expressive stuff from Spain. A mix of Verdejo, Sauvignon Blanc and Viura that delivers a cornucopia of citrus. Grapefruit, passion fruit and lime aromas and flavors abound, and the finish is so fresh and scouring that it can’t help but quench your thirst. A superb summer sipper from the constantly improving Rueda region. Imported by Jorge Ordoñez/Fine…  — M.S.  (8/1/2005)

In cooler vintages like 2007, this white blend from Bodegas Naia excels. It gets going with pear, apple and light, leesy aromas in front of a citrusy palate that is a knock-off for varietal Sauvignon Blanc. Flavors of grapefruit, lime and gooseberry should be familiar, and the crisp fresh-lettuce finish is a winner. Good stuff for the money.  — M.S.  (2/1/2009)

Naia 2007 Verdejo (Rueda)

As always, Naia has bottled a composed, floral, fragrant Verdejo. The nose features citrus blossom and mineral notes, while the palate is citrusy to the max, with vibrant white grapefruit, orange and lime flavors. Fresh on the back end, with even more citrus and pith to ponder. This is nice Verdejo for immediate drinking.  — M.S.  (2/1/2009)

Definitely a particular wine, meaning it’s fully oaked and probably not for everyone. But if you don’t mind full-out barrel notes on your citrusy Verdejo, then you should like it. There’s honey, toast, popcorn, pepper and vanilla aromas and flavors, all courtesy of barrel fermentation. It’s also smooth and clean, with good core acidity and balance. Nice wine; not…  — M.S.  (2/1/2009)

Naia 2004 Verdejo (Rueda)

Sauvignon Blanc fans take note: this no-oak Verdejo tastes a lot like S.B., with ultrafresh tropical and citrus fruit characteristics that include aromas and flavors of pineapple, grapefruit, passion fruit and nectarine. Extremely lively and appealing, with a good mix of acidity and body. A very good food wine. Imported by Jorge Ordoñez/Fine Estates from Spain.  — M.S.  (11/15/2005)
