Nardone Baker 2001 Chardonnay (South Eastern Australia)

Made “without the influence of oak maturation,” and it shows. A very good, clean, interesting wine with fresh peach and citrus flavors, medium body and pretty floral aromas. Not complicated, but pleasant. Finishes with chalk and a little sweetness.

Nardone Baker 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot (South Eastern Australia)

Grapey, sweet aromas send this one off, and then comes a palate of berries and plums. It’s soft and plush in the mouth, but short on the finish. Tasty and simple; a more-than-decent blend from multiple appellations.

Nardone Baker 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon (South Eastern Australia)
Price
$10
Graham crackers and citrus rind but no real fruit make up the nose. The flavors are sweet like a confection, as if residual sugar is present. The finish is oaky and overall the wine seems manipulated more than natural.
