It would be easy to miss the complexity of this wine, as it comes out of the bottle tight and unyielding. Give it a chance—decant it—and scents of cured meat, game, dried herb and asphalt slowly emerge. The cherry-flavored fruit is there as well, all in proportion, but hidden at first.

Sourced from the Upland vineyard in the tiny Snipes Mountain AVA, it is bursting with pure, sweet fruit flavors, tart and lip-smackingly juicy.
