Nico Lazaridi 2003 Magic Mountain Sauvignon Blanc (Drama)
Price
$30
Nice Greek Sauvignon showing melon, apple and peach aromas more than piquant citrus. Offers fine balance, with the acidity propping up apple, honeydew and peach flavors. Fairly chewy and round, with a finish that’s slightly warm but satisfying. Could be nice with a salad of tomatoes and feta followed by grilled whole fish. Imported by Fantis Imports, Inc.

Nico Lazaridi 1999 Magic Mountain Red (Drama)
Price
$50
An ambitious effort, with plenty of tasty oak influence in the form of coffee and vanilla aromas and flavors. Fruit is ripe and soft; tannins are supple and harmonious, giving the impression of immediate drinkability.

Nico Lazaridi 2004 Lion d'Or Cabernet Sauvignon (Greece)
Price
$15
The nose starts a bit funky and earthy, but clears to reveal scents of blueberry pie and grape jelly. Full in the mouth, it has a soft, smooth feel with acidity to give it a lift. The blueberry compote flavors are a bit hidden by heavy tannins, but drink this with a steak or rack of lamb and watch the tannins melt away.

Nico Lazaridi 2001 Moushk Muscat d'Alexandrie (Drama)
Price
$23
Strongly floral, but also marked by a hint of nail polish. Once past that, it’s sweet but well-balanced by tart acids and dominated by its powerful floral quality—clover blossoms?

Nico Lazaridi 2003 Merlot (Drama)
Price
$16
An earthy but slightly sweet nose leads into flavors of meat, clove and dark fruit in this beautifully colored, well-balanced Merlot. The structure is good and the finish lingers with lush fruit.

Nico Lazaridi 2002 Magic Mountain White Sauvignon Blanc (Drama)
Price
$33
A valiant effort at making a full-bodied, barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc that falls just short. The toast and butter noes dominate the pear and peach fruit.

Nico Lazaridi 2001 Chateau Nico Lazaridi Red (Peloponnese)
Price
$17
This Bordeaux blend could use a little more ripeness—it does show hints of green beans—but overall it’s a solid Cabernet-based wine accented by notes of coffee and chocolate.
