Nido de Aguila 2002 Reserva Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon (Maipo Valley)

Rusty in color and a bit stewy, but sill quite enjoyable and well made. Licorice, earth and molasses aromas control the mature nose, while cinnamon spices up the cherry and boysenberry palate. This winery does its best with Bordeaux-style blends, which in fact are the pride of Maipo and what brings people back to Chile. This wine offers some traditional game and leather on the nose and then plum and berry flavors on the palate. Spice, toast and vanilla all join nicely on the finish. Hold until 2007.
