Back on form after the disappointing 2008, Nobilo’s Icon deftly combines hints of honey and stone fruit with a leafy overlay of herbal flavors. It’s medium bodied, with a finish that’s tinged with tobacco leaf. Drink now and over the next 6–9 months.

Nobilo’s top-of-the-line Sauvignon Blanc starts off with the fresh, pungent scent of crushed tomato leaf, then delivers ample melon and fig flavors that push the leafy characters into the background. It nicely balances weight and freshness, ending on a clean, bright note.

This is a full, rich bottling, with few of the green notes found in so many Kiwi Sauvignon Blancs. Grapefruit and passion-fruit flavors coat the mouth in a creamy wave.

Representative Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc: melon, grapefruit and passion fruit in abundance, followed by a finish that’s marked by green herbs and bell pepper.

Ultrarich and creamy, with an abundance of fruity flavors that are powerfully extracted and bold. Despite the size, you’ll find lovely balance and finesse. The mealy taste of lees shows up in the rich finish.

A fine value, Nobilo’s latest SB shows a fine bouquet of musk, lime and passion fruit paired with flavors of pink grapefruit and white currants. The slightly creamy texture glides into a zesty, clean, refreshing finish.

Don’t look for big fruit in this wine—you’ll be disappointed. What you will find is plenty of earthy, spicy complexity. The flavors are slightly herbal and mushroomy, yet with a supple, rich texture. A bit tannic right now, so give it a year or two before pulling the cork.

Nobilo’s top Pinot is a supple, pretty wine that’s ready to drink now. It offers black cherries, plums and dried spices, with a medium body and slightly creamy texture. Spicy and long on the finish. Imported by Pacific Wine Partners.
