Shows rich, ripe, Cabernet-style cassis and chocolate fruit and softly ripe, sweet tannins. The fresh acidity gives it an extra boost. Give it time. Best 2007–2012.

Fresh in primary fruit, jammy blackberry and cherry flavors, with a keen streak of acidity, and an overall sense of balance and complexity. Although this wine has no history of aging, it seems to have everything it needs to develop. Try from 2008–2014.

This is the most New World, California Cabernet-inspired Barbera I’ve ever had. You might almost think it was a Bordeaux variety, with its blackberry jam and chocolate flavors. Soft and unctuous, it’s deliciously forward now. From Ambullneo.
