Nuevomundo 2007 Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon (Maipo Valley)
Price
$16
Dense and concentrated aromas of prune, black fruit and wintergreen are a good opening. The palate is lively and controlled, with cassis, black cherry and prune. Adequate acidity ensures balance through to the finish. Typical midlevel Chilean Cabernet that meets or exceeds its price point.

Nuevomundo 2008 Estate Bottled Reserva Sauvignon Blanc (Maipo Valley)
Online Exclusive
Price
$15
Our expectations for Maipo SB are usually tempered, but this is good and secure. The nose is light and honest, while the palate offers forward grapefruit, orange and lime flavors. The feel is full and comfortable, and it finishes and settles well and a little green. Drink right away.

Nuevomundo 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon-Malbec (Maipo Valley)
Price
$15
DeMartino’s organic wine is dark and loaded with blackberry and other dark fruits, but with these flavors come some really hard tannins. Thus, the mouthfeel is like nails. That said, the hope and belief here is that it will soften over the next six months and will be ready to drink by late spring 2006. If not, then I’ve overrated it. Imported by Organic Vintners.

Nuevomundo 2006 Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon-Carmenère (Maipo Valley)
Price
$16
The nose features eucalyptus, mint and plum aromas, while the palate is chunky and a bit flat, with soft tannins, jammy dark-fruit flavors and accents of vanilla and syrup. Gets softer as it airs out, and in the end it fades away quietly. 450 cases made.

Nuevomundo 2007 Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon-Malbec (Maipo Valley)

Big but clumsy, with unrefined aromas of berry fruit and herbs. The palate is grabbby and sassy, but it’s also generous with the sappy black plum, berry and herbal flavors. A combination of menthol and molasses works the weighty finish, and overall this seems like a goofy, awkward school kid.

Nuevomundo 2005 Reserva Sauvignon Blanc (Maipo Valley)
Online Exclusive
Price
$15
Very light and mute smelling, but overtly aggressive, tart and acidic in the mouth. Loads up on the green apple skins and tangerine in building a one-dimensional flavor profile. Teeters on being sour.
