Oreana 2005 Sauvignon Blanc

  1. $18
Despite the California appellation, the winery says the grapes are from Santa Barbara, and you can taste a cool-climate acidity permeating this dry, citrusy wine. There’s a minerally spine to it, and it finishes with a clean, refreshing scour. Very nice.  — S.H.  (11/1/2006)

Oreana 2005 Verdelho

An interesting wine, different from anything you’ve tasted in more familiar varieties. The wine is high in acid, creating a peppery taste behind the smoky, citrus and dried herb flavors. Finishes a bit too sweet to be called dry, though.  — S.H.  (11/1/2006)

Oreana 2006 Sugar Mountain Vineyard Zinfandel (Paso Robles)

Smells a little vegetal, tastes too soft and sweet, like melted red licorice, and turns raisiny on the finish. Basically okay, if pricey for the quality.  — S.H.  (7/1/2010)

Oreana 2005 ? Red Table Wine

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $9
There’s a big, orange question mark on the front label—that’s all there is—so it’s easy to recognize this Cabernet and Syrah blend on the shelf. The wine is so-so, sharp and raw in green-tinged cherry flavors.  — S.H.  (8/1/2007)
