Deep ruby in color, with dark berry, cinnamon, wild flowers and toasty mineral notes on the nose. This velvety wine has flavors of raspberries and bittersweet chocolate with soft chewy tannins and cedar undertones. Has potential to evolve into an even greater wine with time. Cellar Selection. —C.S.

Not a great quality-to-price ratio, but still a fresh Chardonnay with citrus, green apple and tropical-fruit. Tight and lean because it’s unoaked, with white pepper on the finish. Good in a scaled-back manner.

Herbal aromas come with bell pepper and berry fruit notes, while the palate is solid in terms of feel but shows classic Navarran flavors of jalapeño and green pepper. Good texture and mouthfeel, but probably too green for a lot of people. Tempranillo with Merlot and Cabernet is the blend.

With tobacco, licorice, herbs, bell pepper and carob, there’s a bit of everything to this Navarran Cabernet. The palate is thick and chewy, but it’s also sticky and very tannic. Flavors run toward vegetal and green, with clove, burnt sugar and roasted fruit. Heat and molasses work the finish of this beefy beast that lacks clarity.
