Pacific Rim 2008 Solstice Vineyard Riesling (Yakima Valley)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $25
Flinty, with dense citrus rind phenolics, and great length. There are subtle traces of honey, lingering threads that suggest everything from apples to papaya.  — P.G.  (8/1/2010)

Pacific Rim 2007 Wallula Vineyard Biodynamic Riesling (Columbia Valley (WA))

  1. $32
This vineyard has been Demeter certified biodynamic, one of just a handful in Washington to achieve that recognition. It’s all natural, ripe and full-flavored, with a wonderful, mouthfilling intensity. The flavors are a lovely mix of stone, yeast, flower and a jumble of citrus and apple fruits.  — P.G.  (12/1/2008)

Pacific Rim 2009 Solstice Vineyard Riesling (Yakima Valley)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $22
The new release from this old (1972) vineyard boosts the alcohol to 13.9%, dropping the residual sugar to just over 1%. Deep, concentrated, and driven by a dense minerality, this exceptional single-vineyard Riesling has raw fruit flavors of green apple, white peach and citrus rind. Sure to evolve, perhaps over decades, it has the vivid acidity and penetrating…  — P.G.  (8/11/2011)

Pacific Rim 2008 Organic Riesling (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Best Buy
  1. $14
Made with organic grapes, this hits just 10.5% alcohol and 3.8% residual sugar. Honey, jasmine and tea notes take the off-dry style to a refined level, with the sweetness perfectly proportionate to the acid.  — P.G.  (11/1/2009)

Pacific Rim 2009 Riesling (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Best Buy
  1. $11
A classic Washington tasting-room Riesling—only better. Opulent and fruity, with apricots, star anise, mint, a very nice spicy streak that lifts it up, and adds a lot of complexity. Smooth and supple, it coats the palate, captures some floral highlights, even a bit of marshmallow.  — P.G.  (8/1/2010)

Pacific Rim 2007 Solstice Vineyard Riesling (Yakima Valley)

  1. $32
The wine is finished at 1.2% residual sugar, but tastes bone dry. It’s succulent and juicy, with floral aromas, stone fruits and hints of honeysuckle. Concentrated and dense, it is both bracing and long. The bottle was re-tasted on the second and third days after being opened and retained its crispness and vitality beautifully.  — P.G.  (12/1/2008)

  1. $14
Well-integrated flavors of mixed fruits are augmented with a sneaky streak of caramel, and a slight buttery softness in the finish. Very appealing, with a good long finish.  — P.G.  (8/1/2010)

Pacific Rim 2008 Wallula Vineyard Biodynamic Riesling (Columbia Valley (WA))

  1. $20
Full-bodied, it leans into stone fruits and light tropical. Tasted a few weeks before its official release, it remained a little sugary, with its relatively high alcohol (and lower acidity) adding to the impression of sweetness.  — P.G.  (8/1/2010)
