Big, bawdy, hard and concentrated, with black fruit and floral aromas. The palate is grabby and fully tannic, while the flavors run toward blackberry, coffee and vanilla. Rich and espresso-like on the finish, with no shortage of oak and richness. Very big at 15% alcohol.

Almost jolting in how the nose differs from the competition. Here, you get an early blast of rhubarb and wet dog along with herbal strawberry. Never does the wine shed that herbal character, so at all points there’s a touch of tobacco, bell pepper and bramble.
