Palari 1998 Faro Red (Sicilia)
Cellar Selection
Price
$45
Complex flavors of tar, ripened blackberries and white pepper stay surprisingly soft in this immense wine. The balance of full tannins and dark fruit, from five indigenous grapes, will make this enjoyable for a long time to come. Cellar Selection.

Palari 2006 Faro Red (Sicilia)
This is a delicate and beautiful wine that roughly translates into Sicily’s answer to a great Pinot Noir. Indigenous grapes native to the Mediterranean island are used to make an elegant, complex and anything-but-obvious expression that boasts small berry fruit, cola and toasted almond.

Palari 2008 Red (Faro)
Online Exclusive
Price
$80
The largely unexplored Faro denomination in the northern point of Sicily is producing some of the island's best work. The promising Nocera grape variety is used here and vintner Salvatore Geraci is one of its biggest proponents. This blended red is finely embroidered with subtle notes of forest berry, cassis, leather and spice.

Palari 2007 Red (Faro)
Vintner Salvatore Geraci is the proud producer of Palari Faro, one of the great red wines to emerge from the Mediterranean rim and the island of Sicily. The elegance and finesse is extraordinary and the wine opens with a complex bouquet that sees petite elements of cassis, licorice, tar and tobacco rolled into one.

Palari 1998 Rosso Del Soprano Red (Sicilia)
Price
$31
Leather, red berries and a little rustic smokiness on the nose. The red berries repeat in the palate, then are joined by earth and a woody char. A fully layered wine consisting of Nerello, Mascalese and three other indigenous Sicilian grapes. Drink in 3–5 years.

Salvatore Geraci from the Messina area makes this flagship Sicilian wine. It is very elegant and refined thanks to its delicate aromas of small berries, violets, blue flowers and allspice. The wine offers both density and refreshing acidity on the close.

Palari 2003 Faro Red (Sicilia)
Price
$38
Deeply toasted notes emerge first and segue to tobacco, almond nut, cola and spice. There’s not much vibrant fruit this vintage but the wine tastes full and ripe nonetheless.

Palari 2005 Rosso del Soprano Red (Sicilia)
Price
$39
There’s an interesting elegance to this wine that appears in the form of bright berry, toasted nut and a light dusting of exotic spice. The wine is compact and streamlined and tastes much more refined than your standard Sicilian red.
