Paolo Scavino 1998 Dolcetto (Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba)
Price
$20
Very harmonious aromatics of cherry, chocolate and herbs flow beautifully onto the palate. Lush in the mouth and fairly large scaled, with excellent concentration of fruit. A very long finish with fine but substantial tannins. Maybe it could use a year of aging.

Paolo Scavino 1999 Bric dël Fiasc Nebbiolo (Barolo)
Price
$85
Slightly herbal or minty on the nose, but the palate is all that we’ve come to expect from Scavino, with wonderfully pure red fruits and subtle notes of mineral and sous bois for complexity. Tar and dark chocolate wrap up the supple finish. Drink 2005–2020.

Paolo Scavino 1999 Nebbiolo (Barolo)
Price
$60
Intense from start to finish, Scavino’s blended Barolo packs plenty of power into a lush, thoroughly modern frame. Toasty oak embraces the fruit without obscuring it, allowing flavors of cherry liqueur to burst across the palate. Tempting now, better in 5–7 years.
