Paracombe 1998 Shiraz (Adelaide Hills)

  1. $28
This South Australian shows complexity from stem to stern, its deep, dark fruit accented by tobacco and anise. The fruit shines on the palate, but the finish really stands out, with tremendous length and an impressive cocoa, nut, plum and caramel fade. The elements aren’t unique; this just struts its fine stuff in perfect proportion, with great balance and style…  — W.E.  (11/1/2001)

Paracombe 2001 Somerville Shiraz (Adelaide Hills)

  1. $80
A Shiraz with a Type A personality: Big and brash on the nose, with enthusiastic, forward flavors on the palate. Up front, it smells like marzipan, toast, raspberry and blackberry, and similar notes ring true in the mouth. Finishes pretty long, with a biscuit or cracker-like flavor. Very tasty. Imported by Click Wine Group.  — D.T.  (8/1/2005)

Paracombe 2001 The Reuben Red (Adelaide Hills)

  1. $30
This is a stylish, feminine Cabernets, one that has plenty of blackberry and cassis fruit but dealt it with a delicate hand. Wood adds anise and mochalike accents. A very good wine, and a good flag-bearer for the Hills. A blend of Cabernets, Malbec, Merlot and Shiraz. 192 cases produced. Imported by Click Wine Group.  — D.T.  (5/1/2005)

Paracombe 2004 Sauvignon Blanc (Adelaide Hills)

  1. $23
Fresh and lively bouquet, with aromas of grapefruit and green veggies, i.e. peas and beans. Pours on the citrus flavors, with accents of passion fruit and ginger. Spritzy feeling, with zesty acidity. Turns a bit lemony toward the back end. Imported by Click Wine Group.  — W.E.  (7/1/2005)

Paracombe 2002 Shiraz (Adelaide Hills)

  1. $35
A very good wine, with a smooth feel on its side. The nose has a stewy, figgy quality, and the finish, a fair amount of char, but what’s in between—taut plum fruit—is enjoyable. Imported by Click Wine Group.  — D.T.  (8/1/2005)

Paracombe 1999 Shiraz (Adelaide Hills)

  1. $28
Aromas of cut flowers and cherry fruit hidden by a veneer of toast and a certain medicinal quality leave off at the palate, where pretty cherry fruit and a lean back end foretell of a slim cherry finish. Delicate, with firm acids. —K.F.  — K.F.  (3/1/2003)

Paracombe 1997 Somerville Shiraz (Adelaide Hills)

  1. $70
This straight shooter opens with gamy meat and burned toast aromas. The palate shows solid red plum and cherry fruit. It is this honest fruit combined with such good acids that make the nose forgivable. —K.F.  — K.F.  (3/1/2003)

Paracombe 2002 The Reuben Red (Adelaide Hills)

  1. $30
Aromas are of meat and tree bark; fruit flavors are more like plum skin than flesh. Not very giving. Tasted twice. Imported by Click Wine Group.  — D.T.  (8/1/2005)
