This is a dark, very aromatic wine, brimming with aromas of freshly-crushed white pepper and blackberries. It’s filled with fruity sweetness, but is fundamentally dry. The tannins are soft and melted, and the acids are soft, too. This makes it rich and mellow.

This is a clean and well-made Syrah with notes of white pepper and blackberry. It’s generous in the mouth, although the tannins are quite pronounced. Very dry and balanced, it will be great with lamb, filet mignon or roast pork.

This single-vineyard Syrah shows coffee, red cherry, red plum, pomegranate and white pepper flavors that are powerful, but subtle. It’s drinkable now, with a tart, acidic streak through the finish that calls for rich grills and cheeses.

You get a combo of ripe blackberry and cherry alongside sharp green tea notes in this wine. It’s dry, with smooth tannins and an astringent finish.

Some pretty blackberry and smoke aromas mingle with buttery-fudge notes, Unusual for this varietal. Sweet as it smells, it tastes bone dry, with berry flavors and good tannins.

This is described as a country-style wine because of its rugged tannins and angular, rough mouthfeel. The deeply plummy flavors are ripe, but very dry. The biggest problem may be the acids, which are very low. You long for more crispness and life, something to offset the fruitiness.

A little disjointed, with pretty, ripe, berry fruit. Yet there are sharp green aromas, and a certain stubbornly tannic, green streak in the mouth. Could use more concentration, depth and finesse, especially at this price.

Dense and heavy, a young, full-bodied wine that feels thick in the mouth. It may be an ager. For the moment, though, the plum and blackberry flavors lack delicacy and zest, and the finish is syrupy and ponderous.
