Pascal Doquet 1996 Le Mesnil sur Oger Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Chardonnay (Champagne)

  • Cellar Selection
  • Online Exclusive
Thirteen years on, this is still not remotely mature. It is a major wine, with its still-tight, vibrant acidity and wonderful piercing grapefruit flavors. The acidity of the vintage is all there, but the strength of this Champagne is that the acidity is finely balanced with minerality and fruit.  — R.V.  (7/1/2009)

Pascal Doquet NV Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Chardonnay (Champagne)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $61
Based mainly on vines in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, this impressive wine is superbly rich with just the merest hint of age. With its lively mousse, secondary aromas of mocha and flavors of green apples, it is a wine that should develop magnificently over the next 4–5 years.  — R.V.  (12/31/2007)

Pascal Doquet 2002 Le Mont Aimé Premier Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Chardonnay (Champagne)

  • Online Exclusive
A light, floating style from a master of Chardonnay in a top vintage. Flavors of grapefruit, red apples and a fine, dry, tight finish balance beautifully between richness and a taut, dry character.  — R.V.  (7/1/2009)

Pascal Doquet 1997 Grand Cru Le Mesnil-sur-Oger Chardonnay (Champagne)

  1. $69
From a 6-acre parcel of grand cru vines, this blanc de blancs is still very young. Its pink grapefruit and mineral characters accent a core of lively acidity. It needs time, another five years at least, but is already an impressive wine.  — R.V.  (11/1/2006)

Pascal Doquet 1998 Le Mesnil sur Oger Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Chardonnay (Champagne)

  • Online Exclusive
Bone dry, but soft, this is a complete, rounded Champagne. It has plenty of the Chardonnay mineral character, with fine citrus zest and tight acidity. It is nowhere near mature, so keep for another two years. Impressive.  — R.V.  (7/1/2009)

Pascal Doquet NV Grand Cru Le Mesnil sur Oger Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay (Champagne)

  1. $79
A smooth and creamy Champagne, delicious peach and apricot fruits linked by acidity into a harmonious whole. There is a great apple skin texture that gives a bite, just enough to shape the rich aftertaste.  — R.V.  (12/1/2010)

Pascal Doquet NV Le Mesnil sur Oger Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Chardonnay (Champagne)

  • Online Exclusive
Mesnil sur Oger is at the pinnacle of Chardonnay in the Côte des Blancs of Champagne. This complex, rich wine is full and creamy initially. Then a dry core of pure grapefruit and lime kicks in, giving a line of purity and freshness that goes right through to the lingering finish.  — R.V.  (7/1/2009)

Pascal Doquet 2001 Premier Cru Brut Chardonnay (Champagne)

Ripe grapefruit, green plums and other green stone fruits all show that this wine has some weight, allied with a steely interior. Still young, it fills the mouth with yeast and some toast, but more of an intense freshness.  — R.V.  (12/31/2007)
