Pasqua 2003 Famiglia Pasqua Riserva Red (Amarone della Valpolicella)

  • Cellar Selection
  • Online Exclusive
  1. $90
This is a massive wine on all levels, from the heavy black bottle and heavy wax seal, to the enormous richness and intensity of the liquid inside. Despite its heft and brawn, the wine also shows an elegant side thanks to a careful evolution over the years that has added tones of licorice and cola to the natural base of ripe fruit.  — M.L.  (2/1/2011)

Pasqua 1998 Sagramoso Red (Amarone della Valpolicella)

  1. $30
One sniff indicates that this wine saw some potent oak. The nose has distinct aromas of barrel char, sawdust and espresso. But it still rocks on with roasted dark-fruit flavors that are enhanced by hints of chocolate and vanilla. The finish is sweet and firm.  — W.E.  (5/1/2003)

Pasqua 2007 Red (Amarone della Valpolicella)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $50
Pasqua presents a very approachable and less extracted Amarone that offers elegance and smoothness instead of bulk and density. Indeed, this is a food-friendly wine with soft tannins that would work wonders next to lamb, beef or pork.  — M.L.  (2/1/2011)

Pasqua 2004 Villa Borghetti Red (Amarone della Valpolicella Classico)

  • Online Exclusive
This inky Amarone offers dense and inviting aromas of plum, blackberry, freshly crushed black pepper, lead pencil, tar and leather. It delivers most of its intensity to the nose and makes for a food-friendly alternative. Try it with game or pork stuffed with stewed prunes.  — M.L.  (12/1/2008)

Here is a clean, easy expression of Amarone that promises to make an easy match to roast beef or ravioli in meat sauce. The wine shows medium density and power with loads of jammy fruit on the close.  — M.L.  (2/1/2011)

Pasqua 2007 Villa Borghetti Metodo Passimento Red (Veneto)

Native Corvina and Croatina grapes are air-dried (the so-called passimento process) to create a distinctly concentrated and powerful red wine from the Verona area of northern Italy. The wine shows smooth, soft tannins and round fruit flavors.  — M.L.  (5/1/2011)

Pasqua 2006 Le Soraie Red (Rosso del Veronese)

  1. $20
Made with air dried grapes, this fruity blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Corvina (a native grape of Veneto, northern Italy) opens with raw notes of cherry, blackberry and exotic spice. It’s smooth and rich with a powerful blast of cherry on the close.  — M.L.  (5/1/2011)

Pasqua 2008 Famiglia Pasqua Red (Amarone della Valpolicella)

  1. $30
This Amarone seems a tad older than it really is thanks to slightly aged aromas of cured beef, cigar box, earth and used leather. But the freshness of the fruit does come through on the palate, promising many more drinking years ahead.  — M.L.  (12/1/2011)
