Almost as good as the ’02 reserve, which costs three times as much, Peju’s estate Cab is rich and complex and showcases Napa at its ripe, decadent best. It’s deep and long in cassis and oak flavors and wonderfully balanced. A dry wine of great charm. Drink now through 2008.

This is one of those Sauvignons that has that grassy, gooseberry aroma and flavor that approaches ammonia, but stops just short in favor of lemons and limes. It’s crisp and a little sweet.

There’s so much to like here, from the citrus, fig and melon flavors to the bright acidity and rich creaminess, but the stubborn cat pee aromas are a problem for this reviewer.
