Pellegrini 2007 Olivet Lane Vineyard Estate Bottled Chardonnay (Russian River Valley)

  1. $24
The vintage was great, the vineyard is in a great part of the valley, and the wine is wonderful. It’s ultrarich in tropical fruit, buttered toast, buttercream and spice flavors, but perfectly balanced with acidity and minerals.  — S.H.  (12/15/2009)

Pellegrini 2006 Eight Cousins Vineyard Zinfandel (Russian River Valley)

  1. $24
Shows true Zinfandel nobility in its balance, elegance and above all the varietal character that expresses Zin at its best. Dry and rich in tannins, Pellegrini’s ‘06 Eight Cousins offers exotic, complex flavors of wild black and blue berries, chocolate, black pepper, tobacco and sandlewood.  — S.H.  (12/1/2008)

Pellegrini 2007 Olivet Lane Vineyard Estate Bottled Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley)

  1. $35
A gorgeous, lush Pinot Noir, simply irresistible for drinking now, but ageable. Shows rich, ripe cherry, raspberry, currant, chocolate and anise flavors, accented with spicy sandalwood. A bit primary and fresh in its youth, and should develop bottle nuances through 2013.  — S.H.  (12/15/2009)

Pellegrini 2005 Olivet Lane Estate Reserve Chardonnay (Russian River Valley)

  1. $40
This is rich, ripe, fat and seemingly oaky. It may be too much of a good thing. Massive in caramelized, butterscotch, pineapple, peach, apricot, lime and cotton candy flavors, it might overpower any food you have it with. Almost better as a cocktail sipper.  — S.H.  (3/1/2008)

Pellegrini 2005 Olivet Lane Vineyard Chardonnay (Russian River Valley)

  1. $22
Nice and oaky and rich, from a vineyard in the heart of the cool-climate southern part of Russian River Valley. Acidity stars, giving zesty balance to the ripe pineapple, green apple, Key lime pie and pear flavors. New oak, to the tune of 40%, adds an opulent touch.  — S.H.  (10/1/2007)

Pellegrini 2006 Cloverdale Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon (Alexander Valley)

  1. $28
Where the winery’s Merlot is lovely now, this ’06 Cab needs a few years in the cellar. It’s tannic, giving an astringent tug to the blackberries, cherries, red currants, cocoa and herbs. Should soften by 2011, but if you drink it now, give it a good airing.  — S.H.  (12/15/2009)

Pellegrini 2004 Eight Cousins Vineyard Zinfandel (Russian River Valley)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $24
Here’s a rich, complex, savory Zin from the coolish south-central part of the valley. The vines were planted only in 2000, but the wine has the density of the old vine Zins that border the vineyard. The wild raspberry, coffee, cola and peppery spice flavors finish thoroughly dry, with rich tannins.  — S.H.  (11/15/2006)

Pellegrini 2006 Milestone Red (Sonoma County)

  1. $45
A Bordeaux blend, it’s quite shut down in tannins now, and not showing its best despite impressively ripe, rich blackberries, black cherries, currants and touches of chocolate, dried herbs and tobacco. Needs time. Give it through 2010, and it could blossom impressively beyond that.  — S.H.  (12/15/2009)
