Perry Creek 2007 Altitude 2401 Dark Forest Syrah (El Dorado)
-
$28
A distinctive Syrah that shows great concentration in the focused blackberry, sweet leather, dark chocolate, mineral and black pepper flavors. Beyond the power, the wine is bone dry, soft in acidity and quite tannic. The end result is impressive, and ready to drink now.

Perry Creek 1999 Cellar Select Syrah (El Dorado)

$24
Boasts bacon and pepper aromas, along with toast and mixed berries. Rich and chewy on the palate, its dense flavors include hints of blackberries, fruitcake and chocolate. The flavors and texture are a bit Port-like (but dry) and finish long and tart, with masses of soft, ripe tannins. Hold 2–3 years and drink through 2010. Top Value.

Perry Creek 1996 Syrah (El Dorado)

$15
What a fine Syrah! Rich aromas of hung meat, wild red berry, and peppery-spicy notes. Fine, complex flavors of sweet berry fruit, spice and tobacco. Dry and elegant, with silky but fine tannins, for drinking now. I wish this wine had more new oak, but if it did, of course, it would cost more.

Perry Creek 2005 Altitude 2401 Fair Play Farms Zinfandel (El Dorado)

$24
With high alcohol, this mountain Zin is robust and a little hot, with a pricky pepperiness. But it’s awfully good. Really delicious in ripe, briary blackberries, black cherries, licorice, chocolate, anise and tobacco, the flavors sink into the tongue and spread throughout your head. Really defines the powerhouse style of Sierra Foothills Zinfandel.
